Passenger bites several people on a flight from London to Istanbul

A foreign passenger, who appeared to be drunk, caused an unusual incident on a flight operated by the Turkish airline Ajet travelling from London to Istanbul, after biting and injuring a flight attendant and another passenger, before being subdued by the crew and handed over to the authorities following the plane’s landing.

The low-cost airline AJet, a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, reported that the passenger – who appeared to be under the influence of alcohol – caused a disturbance during flight VF-1990, which was travelling from Stansted Airport in London to Sabiha Gökçen Airport in Istanbul. The incident left one crew member and another passenger injured, the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet reported on 30 September.

According to the statement issued by the Turkish airline, the drunk passenger was harassing a woman seated next to him. The crew intervened to try to bring the situation under control, but the man continued his behaviour despite the warnings he received.

“On 30 September 2026, a foreign passenger, under the influence of alcohol, caused an altercation on our flight VF-1990, which was operating the London Stansted–Sabiha Gökçen route. Our cabin crew intervened with the intoxicated passenger, who was harassing the female passenger sitting next to him. Despite the warnings, the passenger continued with his disruptive behaviour”, stated the written statement released by Ajet.

The passenger bit two people

The airline explained that the man, upon being reprimanded for his behaviour, became aggressive and bit and injured a flight attendant and another passenger who intervened to try to bring the situation under control. In light of these events, the crew followed established procedures to ensure safety during the flight and managed to subdue the passenger.

Once the aircraft had landed at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport as scheduled, law enforcement officers who had been alerted to the incident on board boarded the aircraft and arrested the assailant.

“Our passenger and our cabin crew member who were attacked and bitten on the flight from London to Istanbul have filed a complaint against the assailant. The aggressive passenger has been placed on a blacklist and banned from flying with our airline, in accordance with our aviation security policy,” the AJet statement concluded.
