Istanbul, mosques full for Qadr Night

Mosques full in Istanbul for the Qadr Night

Thousands and thousands of faithful filled last night the mosques of Istanbul and other places in Turkey, especially Hagia Sophia, for prayers on the occasion of the so-called Qadr Night of Night of Power (Kadir Gecesi, in Turkish), one of the most important in Islam during the holy month of Ramadan. It was on this night that the first verses of the Koran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad, so according to Muslim tradition, on this date the fate of the coming year is decided and, therefore, prayers to God are made throughout the night.
