A total of 505,238 domestic and foreign tourists have flown over Cappadocia aboard 23,961 balloons during the first nine months of 2022, according to figures provided by the governor of the Turkish province of Nevşehir. In September alone, almost 4,000 balloons took off from Cappadocia with more than 87,000 tourists. 2022 could thus beat the historical record of 2019, when 586,367 tourists flew aboard a total of 29,585 balloons.
