The historic Selime Cathedral, known for being the place where Christians performed the first religious vocal ceremony 1,700 years ago, and located in the Cappadocia region, attracts tourists also in winter, when snow covers the entire landscape in white. Selime is not like any other cathedral: located at the entrance to the Ihlara Valley, it is not just the largest cathedral in Cappadocia but, like most structures in the region, it was built inside a mountain by excavating the rock. Even despite the pandemic, nearly a quarter of a million tourists visited Selime in 2020.
