More than 300 suspected terror suspects were arrested during a major operation against the Daesh terrorist group by Turkish police, carried out in 32 of Turkey’s 81 provinces simultaneously, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said, noting that the operation, dubbed “Heroes 34”, was carried out jointly by counter-terrorism units and the national police intelligence services.
The minister said the vast majority of the detainees were captured in the country’s three main cities (Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir): 86 were arrested in Istanbul alone, Yerlikaya said via his official social media account, adding that “there will be no respite for terrorists, for the sake of peace, unity and solidarity of our beloved nation. Thanks to the great efforts of our security forces, our fight against terrorism will continue relentlessly”.
