Armenian residents of the Kalbajar region, located northwest of Nagorno-Karabakh and from where – according to the peace agreement signed by Armenia – their forces are to withdraw on November 15, are setting fire to houses and forests before former residents from Azerbaijan, who were expelled during the war of the 1990s, return 27 years later to the area. An estimated 60,000 Azeris had to flee from Kalbajar in 1993, which Armenia later populated with Armenians brought from other regions.
