Istanbul Airport named airport of the year for 4th time

The new Istanbul Airport has been named best airport of the year for the 4th time in a row by the Air Transport News portal, as announced by the IGA company in charge of management and operations at the Turkish metropolis’ main airport: an award given thanks to more than 4,000 votes received in a total of 14 different categories.

“This award is an indicator of our sincere determination in the practices we have pioneered in the industry,” said IGA airport management consortium CEO Selahattin Bilgen during the awards ceremony held on Sunday in Greece.

Kostas Lastrou, director and CEO of Air Transport News, noted that Istanbul Airport has demonstrated its strength and capacity for innovation despite the challenges faced by the aviation industry since the pandemic. According to Lastrou, Istanbul International Airport has not only managed to increase the number of airlines and reach the pre-pandemic level of travellers since then, but also stands out for the dedication of its employees and the good travel experience of its passengers, qualities recognised by the award.
