A forest fire that broke out on Sunday on Heybeliada Island, one of the so-called Princes’ Islands off the coast of Istanbul, burned five hectares of forest. 6 helicopters, 2 hydroplanes and 21 tankers participated in the operation to extinguish the fire, in which several inhabitants of the island also helped as volunteers. Three people have been detained in the investigation into the fire, which started in two separate outbreaks, so it is suspected that it was intentional.
