The TAI TF-X, the new 5th generation Turkish fighter developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), carried out yesterday its first runway tests coinciding with the 108th anniversary of the Turkish victory in the Naval Battle of Gallipoli (Çanakkale). The images, published by several Turkish media, were taken in an undisclosed location and come less than 4 months after the assembly of the first TF-X prototype, whose maiden flight is scheduled for this year. The TAI TF-X is a twin-engine, air superiority, high maneuverability, low radar density combat fighter with supersonic flight capabilities, scheduled to enter service later this decade to replace the Turkish Army’s current F-16 fleet.
