The Istanbul Metropolitan City Council has hired the first three female lifeguards for the city’s public beaches, the mayor, Ekrem İmamoğlu, announced via Twitter. The lifeguards will work on the beaches of Çatalca and Riva. “The number of women rescuers in Turkey is very low. But a woman can do anything. I love my job: we save people, we save lives,” explained one of them.
