The last 130 km stage of the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey – better known as TUR – ended this Sunday in the city of Istanbul, more specifically in the iconic Sultanahmet Square, after having started from the neighbouring and also emblematic Hagia Sophia in a circular route that took the riders to cross to the Asian side of the Turkish metropolis, crossing the Bosphorus Strait. Thus ends the 58th edition of the TUR with a total of 8 stages and 1,235 km of route, in which the Finnish cyclist Jasper Philipsen of the Alpecin-Deceuninck team won the sprint with a time of 2 hours, 57 minutes and 28 seconds.
Crossing the finish line in Istanbul, Philipsen took his fourth stage victory in this year’s Tour of Turkey, followed by Dutch rider Cees Bol of Astana, and in third place Giovanni Lonardi of EOLO-Kometa. In the general classification, the victory in this edition is for the Kazakh cyclist Alexey Lutsenko of the Astana team, who has dominated the competition keeping the turquoise jersey since his spectacular victory in the 3rd stage in Fethiye, and who closes this edition of the TUR with a time of 27 hours, 12 minutes and 46 seconds, 26 minutes ahead of the 2nd classified, Ben Zwiehoff of the German team Bora-Hansgrohe.
