The devastating earthquakes that have ravaged the southeast of Turkey, affecting 11 provinces of the country, have already left 43,556 dead, according to the latest data released last night by the Turkish Interior Minister, Süleyman Soylu, who explained that between 75-80% of the city of Kahramanmaraş, the epicenter of the 7.8 and 7.6 earthquakes that occurred on February 6, has suffered damage. Meanwhile, work continues to remove rubble and demolish damaged buildings in the regions affected by the earthquakes. Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan promised a few days ago to rebuild the devastated cities “from scratch”, and announced a plan of 1 billion euros in aid for the affected areas, where the government has prohibited layoffs.
