Beşiktaş was defeated in Alanya (Antalya) in a game in which, despite trying to dominate the ball, they failed to convert their chances and were lacking in ideas and confidence. The Black Eagles, who have only played two games in the Turkish league this season, suffered a setback after a game that could be a foretaste of another disaster of season.
Although this was the team’s first defeat of the season, the worrying thing is that it comes after a previous win in which Sergen Yalçın’s men beat – and thrashed – a bottom team; it was precisely in Sunday night’s game at the Alanya Oba stadium that the players needed to show they were ready for a fresh start after a last season to forget… And they did not.
The home team scored their first goal in the first half during stoppage time thanks to a clear penalty awarded by the referee after Uchenna Ogundu was brought down in the box; the young Turkish striker İbrahim Kaya was the one to convert it, and he easily fooled Mert Günok to make it 1-0. The second and final goal came in the second half: in the 76th minute, Güven Yalçın, after a breakaway down the left flank of his team, got in front of Günok and scored a beautiful goal to make the score 2-0.
With this result, Alanyaspor accumulates 4 points and climbed 3 places in the standings to 9th place, while Beşiktaş dropped 3 places to 11th place in the table, with only 3 points. Galatasaray remains unstoppable and leader after scoring another 3 goals, this time against Rizespor, while Fenerbahçe – now without Mourinho– beat another bottom team, Gençlerbirliği, in the match played in Ankara.
