Faruk Fatih Özer, president of the cryptocurrency trading platform Thodex, which in 2021 led a massive cryptocurrency fraud, has been arrested upon arrival in Turkey after being extradited by Albania, a country to which he fled 2 years ago after defrauding more than $250 million to hundreds of thousands of private investors in Turkey with an aggressive advertising campaign featuring celebrities and giving away luxury cars. Upon his arrival at the police station, Özer, with a visibly different physical appearance, was defiant and denied being a fraudster and having deceived anyone. In total, the prosecution asks for Özer and 20 other defendants 40,564 years in prison.
