The TCG Anadolu, which at 231 meters in length is the first Turkish aircraft carrier in history and the world’s first drone carrier, left Istanbul on Sunday for the Black Sea after spending a week anchored in the port of Sarayburnu to receive visits from the public. Sailing across the Bosphorus escorted by Turkish Air Force helicopters, the aircraft carrier passed Istanbul’s Dolmabahçe Palace, where Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan presided over an event where he announced that Turkey will build an even bigger ship. “I want to carry out the next step to TCG Anadolu as soon as possible. I have discussed this matter with the Spanish and the British, and after the negotiations, we have received very positive responses from both sides,” he assured.
