Taliban announced on Monday the end of the war in Afghanistan after taking control of the emblematic Panjshir Valley, the last stronghold of the anti-Taliban resistance, where local fighters loyal to Ahmad Massoud, son of the legendary “Lion of Panjshir” who fought against Soviet occupation, had entrenched themselves, together with hundreds of former members of the Afghan army and the former vice president of the country, Amrullah Saleh. Despite the fact that yesterday it acknowledged having suffered significant casualties, the so-called National Resistance Front stated today that its combatants continued to resist in the mountains that surround the valley.
