6 people died and another 294 were injured after the two new earthquakes of 6.4 and 5.8 that occurred late yesterday in Turkey with epicenter on the outskirts of the city of Antakya (Antioch), in the province of Hatay, one of the hardest hit by the 7.8 and 7.6 earthquakes that devastated southeastern Anatolia two weeks ago, causing more than 41,000 deaths.
As reported by the Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD), those killed by the new earthquakes yesterday occurred in the towns of Samandağ, Defne, Gazi and Antakya. AFAD added that there have been more than 90 aftershocks of up to 4.5 degrees since yesterday due to the latest earthquakes, which have caused the collapse of some buildings and also affected northern Syria, where they left some 470 injured.
