An earthquake measuring 5.1 degrees on the Richter scale shook the Niğde province in central Turkey on Sunday night, with its epicentre in the Bor municipality and only 7 km deep, causing panic among inhabitants of the region. The earthquake, which could also be felt in other provinces such as Aksaray or Konya, did not cause injuries but did damage more than half a dozen houses in rural areas, according to the first reports. Teams from the Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) have travelled to the area to assist those affected.
