The current champion of last season in the Turkish league is the last one in the classification.
Last season’s reigning Turkish league champion, Medipol Başakşehir, suffered their second consecutive defeat on match day two since the start of the Süper Lig, this time against Fatih Terim’s Galatasaray, who scored two goals in its stadium and has become the new leader of the Turkish Super League.
The first goal of the game was scored after 14 minutes of play by Colombian Radamel Falcao thanks to a penalty indicated by the VAR after a hand in the area by Demba Ba that the referee did not initially see despite the protests of the Lions. Finally Falcao was in charge of launching the penalty and deceived Günok, establishing the 0-1 with which the first half ended.
After the break, the second goal came in the 77th minute when Younes Belhanda received practically on the penalty spot a beautiful pass from Ryan Babel, establishing the final 0-2, which the Moroccan celebrated with a double somersault among the congratulations of his teammates, since football stadiums remain empty due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With this second victory since the start of the league, Galatasaray is provisionally leading while Başakşehir accumulates as many defeats and occupies a surprising position at the bottom, accumulating 4 goals against and no goals scored. In the rest of the matches, Beşiktaş drew at home against Antalyaspor, and Fenerbahçe play the newly promoted Hatayspor tonight in this new 21-team Super League.
