Istanbul, fire in Esenyurt

4 children die in tragic fire in Istanbul

4 children between 1 and 9 years old, all of them brothers, died this morning in a tragic fire that broke out in a house in the Esenyurt district, on the outskirts of Istanbul‘s European side. The fire, which apparently originated from an electric stove that fell to the ground, broke out in a house located on the basement floor of a building, where a Syrian mother lived with her five young children; the woman was able to escape and save one of the 2-year-old children, although both had to be hospitalised. Several neighbours who tried to save the victims, said that the family had lived in the place for two years, and that the woman worked in a factory and was the one who brought money home, since her husband is in prison. Esenyurt hosts a large number of immigrants and Syrian refugees, and is also one of the districts that suffers the most fires.
