A total of 11 municipal employees needed approximately 5 hours to remove the garbage that a mentally ill man had accumulated inside his home, which had provoked complaints from neighbours because of the nauseating smell emanating from the house, which the workers had to enter through the window due to the enormous amount of rubbish that had accumulated.
The incident, reported by several Turkish media, took place in the town of Yalvaç in the province of Isparta, in western Turkey; there, in a house located on the ground floor of a three-storey building in the Kaşyukarı neighbourhood, a man with psychological problems, identified by the initials H.V., who lived alone, began to accumulate rubbish which he collected in the street. Due to the strong smell coming from the apartment, the neighbours alerted the municipal authorities, who sent a cleaning team to clean up the house.
On their arrival, and given the impossibility of accessing the inside of the apartment through the door due to the accumulated rubbish blocking it, the workers had to enter by cutting the bars on the kitchen window, which overlooked the street. Once inside, the team of 11 people needed 5 hours and up to 3 trucks to remove all the garbage accumulated inside the house. According to Turkish press, the municipal workers have already cleaned the same house of rubbish at least three times before due to the mental problems of the owner, whose habits cause obvious discomfort to the rest of neighbours.
