More than 100,000 refugees had left Turkey on Sunday through the border province of Edirne to cross into Europe from Bulgaria or, mainly, from Greece, where Greek police violently repressed migrants, many of them women and children, who were trying to enter through the Kastanies border crossing, now closed. Turkey, the country with the most refugees in the world, announced on Friday that it opened its doors to refugees who wanted to enter Europe because it cannot cope with the arrival of more than one million new refugees from Syria.
