Turkish government sources announced on Friday that Turkey will stop curbing the arrival of refugees to Europe by land and sea, given the imminent arrival of more than one million displaced people to its territory as a result of the Assad regime’s offensive in Syria. Greece and Bulgaria have decided to double their border patrols after the announcement. Turkey is the country with the most refugees in the world, welcoming almost 5 million of displaced people, most of them Syrians, and has been warning for some time that if it does not receive help to stop Assad, it will not be able to accommodate more refugees.
