Turkish Galatasaray made history in the Champions League on Tuesday by defeating Manchester United 2-3 at their Old Trafford stadium in England. It was a tough match for the Red Devils, who showed a lack of ideas on the field. Rasmus Højlund scored both goals for Man United, the first of which after 17 minutes was answered just six minutes later by Wilfried Zaha, equalising the match. When the Dane put the home side ahead again in the 67th minute, Kerem Aktürkoğlu equalised again for the Lions of Istanbul just 4 minutes later.
With 12 minutes remaining, United were down a player after Casemiro was sent off for a tackle on Icardi in the box; the penalty was awarded to Icardi himself, who however wasted the chance with a shot too close to the left-hand post that eventually went wide, much to the despair of the Argentine striker. But Icardi was able to make amends just four minutes later, when a solo run saw him get down in front of Onana and score a spectacular lobbed goal. That made it 2-3 to Galatasaray, who this way sealed the English team’s 2nd Champions League defeat in Group A.
