More than one and a half million Turks residing abroad have already voted in the second round of the presidential elections in Turkey, which will be held on May 28 and in which the current President of the Republic, Tayyip Erdoğan, will face the opposition coalition candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu after no candidate managed to pass the 50% vote threshold. Almost 1.7 million Turkish citizens residing in other countries voted in the 1st round, and both candidates have called on the Turkish diaspora to exercise their democratic right and go massively to the ballot boxes. The announcement made yesterday by Sinan Oğan, a candidate who won 5% of the votes in the 1st round, to support Erdoğan for the 2nd electoral round, places the current Turkish president as the favorite in the elections.
