The beds donated by Turkey have served to equip the temporary hospital installed in Corferias, Bogotá. Colombia currently registers 3,977 confirmed cases of coronavirus.
Colombia has thanked Turkey for donating 250 hospital beds to the Latin American country to help combat the coronavirus pandemic. To date, Ankara has delivered medical aid and equipment to 34 countries around the world to fight COVID-19.
“Thanks to the Turkish embassy and (the Turkish international cooperation agency) TİKA in Colombia, the temporary hospital in Corferias (Bogotá) has 250 hospital beds for the care of patients of low complexity,” reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia on April 20th.
The Colombian Ministry of Health also thanked Turkey, calling this aid “a key to help continue saving lives.” Previously, on March 22th, Turkish authorities had already sent Colombia 26,000 virus detection tests made in Turkey.
Located in the Colombian capital, the Corferias fair centre has been converted into a temporary hospital to serve COVID-19 patients for the duration of the pandemic. Colombia currently registers 3,977 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 189 deaths from COVID-19, while a total of 804 patients have been discharged after overcoming the disease.
