Unemployment fell to 10.4% in 2022 in Turkey

The unemployment rate in Turkey fell to 10.4% during the past year 2022, almost 2 points less than the 12% unemployment registered by the Eurasian country in 2021, according to data published today by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). In its report, the official Turkish statistical agency indicates that the number of unemployed over 15 years in the country fell by 337,000 people compared to 2021 to stand at 3.58 million, with the unemployment rate being 8.9% among men and 13.4% among women. Youth unemployment (15 to 24 years old) also fell in 2022 by 3.2%, standing at 19.4%. In 2022, 56.5% of Turkish workers were employed in the services sector, 21.7% in industry, 15.8% in agriculture, and 6% in construction.
