Nor government awareness campaigns, nor appeals from scientists and celebrities, nor restrictions on those who reject the vaccine: nothing like the idea of a Turkish restaurant, which has announced that it will give free kebab to the first 1,000 people who present a certificate of having been vaccinated against COVID-19. After Uğur Aydın, the owner of this restaurant in Adana (southern Turkey) announced his offer, about 700 people showed up just on the first day. “We want everyone to get vaccinated so that we can go back to our old life,” explains Aydın. “With an offer like this, all of Adana would be vaccinated”, assures a client. In fact, Adana is famous for its kebabs: a famous gastronomic website named the Adana kebab (Adana kebabı) as one of the tastiest dishes in the world.
