Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu announced today the arrest in Adana province of the self-proclaimed “emir” of the Daesh terrorist group, identified as Mahmut Özden, along with other members of the organisation. Özden received instructions from Syria and Iraq, and his arrest was made possible thanks to the investigations launched following the arrest in late August of a Daesh member who was planning an attack in Istanbul’s Taksim Square.
