Turkey’s company Turkish Airlines has been named Europe’s Best Airline of 2024 at the annual awards presented by the independent UK airline auditors Skytrax, based on the opinions of millions of passengers around the world. Turkish Airlines also received two other awards: “Best Airline in Southern Europe“, and “World’s Best Business Class Catering“.
In statements reported by Turkish media, Bilal Ekşi, the airline’s CEO, stressed that these awards are proof of the hard work and dedication of the professionals who work at the airline, and emphasised the importance of Turkish Airlines receiving these prestigious Skytrax awards.
Turkish Airlines carried 32.75 million passengers between January and May 2024, a 5.7% more than in the same period last year. It currently flies to 341 destinations worldwide – the latest addition being the new route to Melbourne, Australia – and operates a fleet of 456 aircraft.
During the awards ceremony, Qatar Airways received the World’s Best Airline of 2024 award for the 8th time, with Singapore Airlines and Emirates taking 2nd and 3rd place respectively. In addition, SunExpress, a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Germany’s Lufthansa, was named “Best Leisure Airline in Europe” and came in 2nd place as “Best Leisure Airline in the World”.
