Turkey’s health tourism revenues continue to grow and exceeded $2.3bn (€2.1bn) last year, up from $1.9bn in 2022, according to data released by the Turkish Ministry of Commerce, which underlines that the Eurasian country now ranks 7th globally in health tourism.
In total, Turkey welcomed 1.4 million health tourists in 2023, compared to 1.26 million in 2022. The majority of foreign health tourists travelling to Turkey for some form of health treatment come from Middle East countries as well as Germany, the UK, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, according to ministry data.
The Heal in Türkiye website, launched with the support of the Turkish government, offers the possibility for foreign health tourists to directly contract all necessary services for their health treatment in Turkey (including insurance or visa), and currently has 175 institutions from the health sector operating on it. Health tourism revenues in Turkey have tripled in the last 10 years, with the most popular treatments being hair transplant, gynaecology, internal diseases, medical biochemistry, general surgery, dentistry, orthopaedics and infectious diseases.
