Secret services capture a man who replicated Erdoğan’s voice with AI

The National Intelligence Service (MİT), Turkey’s secret services, has captured a man who had managed to replicated the voice of Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan using AI (Artificial Intelligence) programs, in order to contact important businessmen and senior officials of the country to obtain personal benefit.

The individual, who was quickly detained by the cybersecurity department of the Turkish secret service and later handed over to the authorities on fraud charges, admitted using AI programs to replicate Erdoğan’s voice; the man came into contact with several businessmen through 10 different telephone lines, all of them registered under foreign names.
