A bus belonging to the Istanbul public transport company İETT fell into the sea yesterday morning, in an event that occurred at the Eminönü pier, in the heart of the city, due to initially unknown causes. The bus was fortunately empty and parked at a nearby bus stop when it fell into the water, the Istanbul governor reported.
Subsequently, the Istanbul Metropolitan City Council issued a statement in which it reported that the bus, belonging to the EM1 line (Kulaksız-Eminönü), fell into the sea because the driver of the vehicle parked it without applying the parking brake, so an investigation has been launched against him. Although there were no personal damage caused by the accident, the rescue operation organized at Eminönü was quite complex and required a large crane and several divers, supported by firefighters on the ground and coast guard teams on the water, who worked for 6 hours until the bus was pulled out.
