Rumors are growing about the state of health of Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan after he, in the midst of the campaign for the presidential elections on May 14, was forced to suspend all his activities yesterday on medical advice. Erdoğan, 69, had to interrupt a live interview on Tuesday, claiming later that he was suffering from a stomach virus. Although it had been announced that he would resume his activity on Thursday, sources from his AKP party confirmed that he has also canceled all of his schedule for today, and that he will virtually attend the fuel supply ceremony for the first Turkey nuclear power plant; however, the government denies that his state of health is serious or even that he has been hospitalized after suffering a heart attack, as some media claim.
