Several cities and provinces in Turkey are on alert due to poor air quality caused by dust storms that are sweeping the country from west to east, caused by dust cloud from Africa. In some central and eastern Anatolian provinces, airborne particle volumes of up to 500 micrograms per cubic metre are being measured, 10 times more than the daily maximum limit recommended by WHO.
