Istanbul has received 7 million tourists this year

Some 7 million tourists travelled to Istanbul this year between January and October: this last month alone, the Bosphorus metropolis received 1.15 million visitors, more than double the number last year. The main countries of origin for foreign tourists were Iran, Russia, Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the United States. In this way, the number of tourists who have visited Istanbul this year already exceeds that of all of 2020, although the figures are far from those of 2019, before the start of the pandemic: then, Istanbul received more than 15 million tourists, a record number that for the first time in its history exceeded its population.
