Istanbul Airport, which like the entire city and much of Turkey has suffered in recent days from intense snowfalls that forced all operations to be paralysed on Monday (for the first time in its history), is now operating practically normally. IGA, the consortium that operates the airport, announced yesterday the reopening of two airport runways and the departure of more than 680 flights, while work continued to reopen a third runway for aircrafts. IGA also confirmed that no passengers are currently waiting at the terminals, after some travellers had to wait up to 3 days after being trapped on Sunday even 12 hours inside their plane, due to the enormous amount of snow accumulated in the runways. Turkish Airlines has also confirmed the resumption of its flights, but advises passengers to remain vigilant for possible changes in scheduled flights.
