Armenia, Pashinyan during protests in Yerevan

High tension in Armenia with protests supporting and against Pashinyan

Thousands of people demonstrated in the streets of Yerevan in protests both to support Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and also to demand his immediate resignation, leading to clashes between the two sides. The situation in Armenia remains very tense after the coup attempt, as the head of the army, General Onik Gasparyan, refuses to comply with the order to resign given by the prime minister after the military leadership demanded the resignation of Pashinyan because of the massive protests that the country has been experiencing since November, triggered by the defeat in the Karabakh war and the signing of a peace agreement with Azerbaijan.
