The famous Turkish singer Tarkan Tevetoğlu, known internationally by his stage name Tarkan, said his final goodbye to his mother at an emotional funeral held in Maltepe (Istanbul), attended by family, friends and a large number of artists who wanted to accompany the singer on this day of mourning.
Turkish news agencies reported that Neşe Tevetoğlu‘s body was taken to the Cumhuriyet Mosque for a religious funeral that took place shortly after midday, attended by her son, surrounded by family and friends, before being transferred to the Maltepe cemetery, where Tarkan thanked the many people who spontaneously offered their condolences as he left the cemetery. ‘Thank you, friends, thank you very much for your support,’ the singer told reporters.
Neşe Tevetoğlu, who lived in Kemer (Antalya) and had been suffering from health problems for some time, died at the age of 68 due to a heart attack. Turkish media reported that his son Tarkan received the sad news of his death while in Germany as part of a concert tour in Europe. The Turkish singer decided then to return immediately to Istanbul, where he lives in the Tarabya neighbourhood with his wife, Pınar Dilek, whom he married in 2016.
