Turkey, damages caused by floodings in the Black Sea

Death toll from latest Black Sea floods rises to 27

The death toll from the latest floods that have swept through the Kastamonu, Sinop and Bartın provinces in Turkey’s Black Sea region now stands at 27, as rescue teams scramble to evacuate survivors. The highest number of victims occurred in Kastamonu, the worst affected province with 25 deaths, while two people died in Sinop and one remains missing in Bartın. Floods caused by torrential rains on Tuesday night have washed away streets, roads and bridges and collapsed buildings, “a disaster never seen in 50 or 100 years,” Turkey’s agriculture and forestry minister has said.
