Automobile sales, specifically passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, skyrocketed by 132% in Turkey during the month of April, with a total of 61,488 units sold just before the lockdown, which is expected to have an impact on May figures, along with the depreciation of the lira and the shortage of supplies in the automobile industry due to the pandemic. Still, car sales in April lagged behind the 61,488 sold in March, which marked the highest sales figure ever recorded in Turkey. The best-selling brands were (in this order) Fiat, Volkswagen, Renault and Ford.
