Almost 7 years after in June 2014 forces of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (Daesh) captured the Iraqi city of Mosul and seized the Turkish consulate kidnapping 48 Turkish citizens, Turkey confirmed yesterday the reopening of its consulate in this city in northern Iraq. “The separation is over, we are in Mosul,” the consul general of the Turkish Republic in the city, Mehmet Küçüksakallı, wrote on Twitter. Turkey has also announced the reopening of its consulate in Basra, and the upcoming opening of two new consulates in Kirkuk and Najaf.
