A 1,800-year-old statue of a water nymph has been unearthed during excavations at the ruins of the ancient city of Amastris, now the town of Amasra, on Turkey‘s Black Sea coast. The statue, 1.53 metres high, was found by archaeologists at a depth of about 3 metres and is thought to have been sculpted in the 2nd century AD, at the height of the Roman Empire.
