11 days after the earthquake that devastated southeastern Turkey, Aleyna Olmaz, a 17-year-old Turkish girl, was rescued alive today from the remains of a collapsed building in the Dulkadiroğlu district of Kahramanmaraş, the epicenter of the quakes, after having spent no less than 248 hours trapped. After being pulled out by rescue teams, the young girl was taken by ambulance to a hospital. With little hope of finding survivors, the latest death toll from the earthquakes in Turkey has increased to 36,187dead, while 108,068 people have been injured, of whom more than 13,000 continue to be treated in hospitals throughout the country.
