Forest fire breaks out in the historic Gallipoli peninsula

Some 20 helicopters, 118 tankers and more than 500 firefighters fought on Monday against a fire that burned hundreds of hectares on the historic Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey’s Çanakkale province, and forced the evacuation of several villages. The fire, believed to be caused by human error, burned thousands of trees but did not cause injuries.
