Can Yaman has become one of the most recognisable faces in Turkish television series and a phenomenon among Spanish and Latin American audiences. With his charisma, command of several languages and a career that goes far beyond romantic soap operas, this actor born in Istanbul 35 years ago has won over millions of fans both inside and outside his country.
Now, as he perfects his Spanish and prepares for his first series filmed in Spain, his name is once again making waves, confirming that the most famous Turkish heartthrob of the moment still has a lot to offer.
Can Yaman age, height and early life
Born on 8 November 1989 in the Suadiye neighbourhood of Istanbul (Turkey), Can Yaman is 1.88 metres tall. He is the only child of Güven and Güldem Yaman.
Can Yaman has Balkan roots, with Albanian and North Macedonian ancestry. His paternal roots lie in the Balkans: his grandfather was Kosovar of Albanian ethnicity, and his grandmother comes from North Macedonia. At the age of five, he experienced his parents’ divorce, and although the separation was amicable, it marked a childhood in which his education had to be divided between scholarships and personal effort.
After completing his studies at Bilfen College and the Italian Lyceum in Istanbul, Yaman graduated with a law degree from Yeditepe University in 2012. From there, he began working in the field of law, including mergers and acquisitions at PricewaterhouseCoopers, but at some point he realised that his true calling lay elsewhere.

The transition to the world of acting came when he had only been practising law for six months, and almost by chance: while on holiday in Bodrum, Yaman was spotted by agents who offered him the opportunity to try his hand at acting. In 2014, he made his debut in the Turkish series Gönül İşleri (‘Affairs of the Heart’), and shortly afterwards starred in titles such as İnadına Aşk (‘In Spite of Love’, 2015), Hangimiz Sevmedik (‘Marriage by Surprise’, 2016) and Dolunay (‘Full Moon’, 2017), playing the character Ferit Aslan in the latter production.
The turning point in his career came with the Turkish series Erkenci Kuş (2018-2019), in which he played Can Divit alongside the famous Turkish actress Demet Özdemir. With this role, Yaman achieved international fame—including in Spain—and won the Golden Butterfly Award for Best Actor in a Romantic Comedy in 2018. He later starred in another major drama, Bay Yanlış (‘Mr Wrong’, 2020), which once again put the spotlight on his career.

In a recent interview for the Spanish television programme ‘La Revuelta’, the Turkish actor Can Yaman confessed that he has been studying Spanish for a year with the personal challenge of speaking only in Spanish: ‘I’ve been learning Spanish from scratch for a year,’ he confessed on the programme. This dedication to Spanish and to connecting with Spain is also accompanied by an upcoming project: recording his first series in Spanish.
