Coinciding with the celebration of the 107th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Çanakkale (Gallipoli), considered the greatest military victory of the Ottoman Empire in World War I, Turkey inaugurated this Friday the Çanakkale 1915 bridge, which with more than 2 km long has become the longest suspension bridge in the world, connecting Europe and Asia crossing over the waters of the Dardanelles Strait. With an investment of 2,5 billion euros, some 5,000 workers have worked on the project, which began 5 years ago, built by a consortium of Turkish and South Korean companies. Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan and South Korean Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum attended the ceremony.
