Turkey has urged the Taliban to form a government in Afghanistan that includes members of the country’s minorities and ethnic groups, following a meeting that Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu held with a Taliban delegation that arrived yesterday in Ankara. Çavuşoğlu also advised the Taliban to allow girls access to education as well as women to employment: “We have told them not to see this as a demand from the West, but as something that the Muslim world and many Muslim countries expect of them” explained the minister. The talks in Ankara, led by Acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, focused on issues such as transport, trade, immigration or humanitarian aid.
