Astronomy lovers were able to enjoy yesterday a big show: a super Moon, visible in many places on the planet and also in the skies of Istanbul, as can be seen in this video. The name “Supermoon” refers to a larger than normal full Moon: yesterday’s, the largest in 2021, occurred because the Earth’s natural satellite was at its closest point in orbit, showing 15% brighter. In this case, this Supermoon also coincided with a total lunar eclipse visible in various regions of the world.
