Stunning new images continue to emerge nearly a month after the terrible earthquakes that devastated southeastern Turkey, killing more than 45,000 people so far. In two of the three lakes in the Gölbaşı district in the province of Adıyaman, one of those affected by the earthquake, local residents were surprised to see huge flames rising from the water moments before. “We heard a big sound, we thought it had been an explosion. Then we saw red lights and flames emerge from the other end of the lake. We thought it was a natural gas explosion, but then the earthquake came,” a witness said.
